The Gear
Take a peak inside our packs.

The following items are core pieces of equipment that all (or mostly all) of us plan to bring. We've chosen these items and brands for their durability, ultralight weight, and sometimes, impeccable style. For the full list of our equipment, including suggestions on number of clothing items to bring, see this document:

Clothing

Besides the socks and rain gear (listed above), clothing choices (in terms of style, number, and brand) vary from pilgrim to pilgrim. Our Equipment List suggests a good breakdown of clothing, but each pilgrim is free to alter this as he sees fit.

We're impressed by the brands linked on the right.

Clothing Considerations

1 / Material

Choose materials that are quick-drying, temperature regulating, water resistant, and/or insect repelling. On the trail, "Cotton kills."

3 / Weight

Always err on the side of lower weight items. When choosing between two similar items, choose the lighter one. Ounces add up to pounds!

2 / Functionality

Look for roll-up or zip-off elements, air vents, and pockets.
